Importance of CD3/CD4/CD8 Test :
The CD4 cells are Helper T-Cells and they express both
CD3 and CD4. CD4 positive T-cell levels are a criterion
for categorizing HIV positive related Clinical
conditions since these cells are a major target for HIV.
The number
of CD4 positiveT cells in the blood gradually declines
as HIV disease progress. Thus it helps to determine how
advanced the HIV disease is and to predict the risk of
complications.
The
measurement of Helper T-Cells levels is used to
establish decision points for initiating
Antiretroviral
Therapy and to monitor the efficacy of treatment. Helper
T-cells levels should be monitored every 3- 6 months in
all HIV-infected persons.
Importance of HLA B –27
HLA
antigens are products of genes found at the human major
histocompatibility Complex. These antigens play a
central role in the
ability of the immune system to differentiate "self from
non-self" and are
essential for communication between cells of the immune
system.
HLA -B27 is clinically relevant to the evaluation of
seronegative
spondyloarthropathies. There is strong association of
HLA B 27 with
ankylosing spondylitis as well as with several other
diseases, such as
Reiter's syndrome, Psoriatic Arthritis, and inflammatory
bowel disease.
